Ramat Polytechnic, located in Maiduguri, Borno State, was established in January 1973 by the government of the then North-Eastern State as the Government Technical College. It was later upgraded and renamed Ramat College of Technology in April 1978, in honor of the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Muhammad. In August 1979, it attained Polytechnic status. The institution is recognized by both the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). Ramat Polytechnic offers the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) through its School of Vocational and Technical Education. The NCE programs aim to produce well-trained teachers in technical and business-related fields.
