What is JAMB?

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is the Nigerian body that conducts the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.  

Key Dates for the 2025 UTME

  • Direct Entry (DE) Application Period: Ongoing.
  • Mock Examination Date: Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Candidates’ Data Mismatch at CBT Centres

  • JAMB found data discrepancies for some candidates in 132 out of 887 approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers.
  • Affected centers have been sanctioned.
  • JAMB holds both the centers and the 200 candidates who confirmed incorrect data accountable.

Institutions Must Prioritize Results Verification

  • JAMB observed that some institutions aren’t verifying candidates’ results, especially for Direct Entry.
  • Institutions are responsible for ensuring the legitimacy of documents used for admissions.
  • JAMB introduced the Nigeria Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (NIPEDS) to aid verification.
  • NIPEDS has helped identify forged certificates from foreign institutions.
  • 13 fake A’level certificates were recently discovered.
  • Institutions using fake certificates will be considered complicit in fraud.
